                So you've always wanted to learn to play guitar but you could never find the time to take some lessons.  Now you've decided to make the commitment to really do it this time, except you still don't have the time.  Not wanting to give up your dream, you've decided that you need to learn to play guitar fast.  I can't say that I blame you; I've always been really bad about sticking to things that take some time to see results.  If you want to learn to play guitar fast, you need to know where to find the resources to do so.

                Start with the internet.  You can search your local paper to find yourself an instructor as well but if you want to learn fast, you're going to need a little more help.  You can find programs on the internet that offer free lessons.  If you combine some of the online lessons with proper instruction, you can have two different sources to answer your guitar playing questions.

                Another great way to improve your music skills is to learn to read music!  Learning to read music makes it so much easier and faster to play.  It's just like reading a book; if you know the language then you can get through a book in a matter of hours.  If you don't know it, you'll be sitting there staring at the same page for days.  Don't just learn to read it, learn to hear it.  When you listen to songs on the radio or on your IPod, really listen to the music.  Try to get a feel for the different rifts that you hear and then practice replicating them without looking at any notes.

                Make sure that you take the time to study and really get to know your instrument as well.  Understand how to properly tune and take of your instrument will help you know when it's not working properly.  Make sure that you understand the physics behind your instrument.  You don't have to memorize any formulas, just understand the basic mechanics that make your instrument work.

                Practice one chord at a time.  If you want to learn to play guitar fast practice one chord at a time.  There are several different ways to play a single chord.  Practice them over and over again doing one chord at a time so that your hands start to remember the finger placement.
